West Lafayette
Well, we made it to Indiana on Thursday - West Lafayette, specifically. It was two long days of driving, getting lost in a cornfield in Illinois (in the UHaul), and moving heavy stuff in 95 degree heat and humidity, but we are alive. Our apartment is nice and they had my accent wall done already. Although, as we walked through the place, writing down any damage, the balcony door did fall off. And has not been put back in properly yet. Olivia seems to be enjoying having free reign over every room of the place. She has her own room (the den) but tends to enjoy running back and forth under the blinds and letting the air conditioner blow her furry little face. Yesterday we decided we needed to stop sleeping on the futon and bought our very first bed! We decided to not get the cheapest one so that we could keep it for a while. It's even a pillowtop kind - comfy! We then had to go to Wal-Mart and buy new sheets to fit it, so our bed is complete! (Headboard or frame to come in later years...) Today we are at the public library for internet to change our address on all of our subscriptions, mail, etc. Then I think we might just go out and enjoy the town. The river isn't very scenic but there are fountains everywhere and a huge pedestrian bridge. The streets are really annoying and you might end up in a turn-only lane without any notice...it will tak e some getting used to. Still no job for me, but Brian starts orientation on Monday. The undergrads don't show up for another week, so we still have a little time to get to know the area before it is even more crowded with 40000 extra people. I will try to take pictures soon and post them. That's all for now!
